Managing Connectors in Your Inventory
How to add, update, and report on connector records in 120Water.
Overview
Connectors, including goosenecks and other short pipe segments that link your service line to the main or to a building, are now a fully supported part of your inventory in 120Water.
With this update, you can record connector materials directly in the system, keep them separate from your full service line data, and include them in your compliance exports. This is especially important for meeting 2027 LCRI reporting requirements.
What Is a Connector?
A connector is a short section of pipe that connects the water main to the service line, or the service line to a building. Common examples include:
- Goosenecks
- Pigtails
- Short connecting sections at the meter or curb stop
Connectors can be made from different materials than the rest of the service line, so it is important to track them separately.
How to Add a Connector
- Open a location record and navigate to the Assets section.
- Scroll down to the Connectors section within the asset page.
- Click “Edit” on the Connector section to create a new connector record.
- To add a connector, select “Yes” from the “Connector Present?” dropdown.
- Select the connector material and enter all other metadata.
- If this connector is the one that should drive your compliance reporting, check the box to mark it as the Primary Connector.
- Save the record.
Primary Connector: What It Means
When a location has more than one connector, you will need to identify which one is the primary connector. The primary connector is the one that will be used in your compliance reporting and inventory exports.
Why this matters
Designating a primary connector ensures that the correct material is reflected in your submission. It removes guesswork and helps your data pass review without manual corrections.
Connector Material Classification
When you select a material for a connector, the system will automatically assign it the correct EPA classification. You do not need to look this up or enter it manually. It happens in the background as soon as you save the record.
This helps prevent errors that can occur when different staff members interpret material classifications differently.
Connectors in Your Exports
Connector data is included in your inventory exports automatically. This means your Inventory exports and any state submissions will reflect your connector records without any extra steps.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I do not have connector information for some locations?
That is okay. You can add connector records over time as information becomes available.
Can I import connector records in bulk?
Bulk connector imports are coming in a future update. For now, connectors can be added one at a time through the asset detail view.
What is the difference between a connector and a service line?
A service line runs from the water main to the building. A connector is a shorter segment that links the service line to either the main or the building entry point. They may be made of different materials, which is why they are tracked separately.
