How to Bulk Edit Your Inventory & Locations
Overview
Bulk edit lets you update multiple assets or locations at once instead of opening each record individually. If your team just finished field verification on a street, confirmed connector materials across a neighborhood, or needs to tag a group of locations as schools and daycares, bulk edit gets it done in one pass.
What you can bulk edit
Bulk edit works on two pages:
- Inventory page — update service line fields like connector data, material classifications, and verification details
- Locations page — update location-level fields like property classification
A full list of editable fields appears when you open the bulk edit panel. Note: free text fields and custom fields are not supported in bulk edit at this time.
How to bulk edit on the Inventory page
- Go to the Inventory page.
- Filter or search to narrow down to the records you want to update. You can also manually select records from the full list.
- Check the box at the top to select all filtered records, or check individual records.
- Click Edit.
- Select the fields you want to update. Use a quick action button to pre-select the fields for common use cases — for example, updating connector data or verifying service line materials.
- Click Continue and enter the new values. Everything you enter here will apply to all selected records.
- Review the preview. It shows exactly what's changing and how many records are affected.
- Click Bulk Update. Changes start applying immediately. You can stay on the page to watch progress or navigate away — the update runs in the background.
How to bulk edit on the Locations page
The process is the same as above, starting from the Locations page instead of Inventory. Use this when you need to update location-level fields across multiple records — for example, tagging a group of addresses as schools and daycares.
- Go to the Locations page.
- Filter or select the locations you want to update.
- Click Edit.
- Select the field to update — for example, Property Classification.
- Enter the new value and click Continue.
- Review the preview and click Bulk Update.
A note on timing
Bulk updates process in the background. For a small set of records the update completes quickly. For larger sets it may take a few minutes. A progress indicator at the top of the page shows where things stand.
With great power, comes great responsibility
This is a powerful feature that allows you to edit large swaths of data at once. As a result, mistakes may happen and human error could occur. We recommend taking this process slow and double checking your information to make sure you update exactly what you are needing to. If you have questions or concerns, or make an error, check the Bulk Edit log in your Account Settings. Details on your edits can be found there. If you still need help, contact support@120water.com.
